Length of some fans’ patience: Three games

Nobody said it was gonna be a cakewalk this year. Tell that to the fans at the opening series vs. the Rangers, who watched the Astros strike out more than four dozen times in three games. The record-setting futility wore thin by the rubber match, when we heard new leftfielder Chris Carter — who had misplayed a fly ball earlier in the game — being booed outright after striking out.

And … 5 strikeouts through the first 2 innings Friday makes it an even 4 dozen Ks (I think) through the first 29 innings of the season.

They’re up to 56 whiffs through Friday’s opener with the A’s — an MLB record. All four starters against the Astros have set or tied their career highs for Ks.
